Should I be a bodybuilder?

It has been a very long time since I updated my blog!!! Oh how time has passed. So just to keep you all filled in, I met this dude haha now my boyfriend who got me into this whole body building thing. I never thought lifting weights was cool to be honest and I never really knew how to. I would go to the gym and completely struggle. I didn't know if you were supposed to lift heavy or light or what in the SAM HELL I was doing. So anyways, Dane (my now boyfriend) used to train Cal Poly athletes (where we both went to college) so basically I hit the jackpot in terms of someone to teach me how to lift properly. Sooo this is the deal.... some things I learned...

1. You have to lift very heavy. So what this means is those idiots like myself who used to be on the weight machine easily pushing through the sets of 10.... you are wasting your time. You should lift to the point where as you finish your 10-12th rep, you should barely be able to push through. That is key if you want to see results, along with eating. And lets remember I am not expert but just try to share my perspective.

2. Form is everything. BUT the you can definitely learn everything you need to learn on youtube or on instagram. I know.... SHOCKER...those people are trainers and actually have some really good exercises that I have taught Dane in the gym.

My schedule for the week is usually
Back/Triceps
Legs and Ass
Shoulders/Biceps
RUN (my favorite day)
Legs and Ass
Rest
Shoulders/Biceps
repeat....

3. FOOD IS SOO SO IMPORTANT. And this is where I am going to shock you all. BUT you have to eat constantly. This is how much I eat everyday...
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1/4 cup of berries in the morning with 4 egg whites
- 4 ounces of meat (you need to weight your food with a scale) veggies with a scoop of rice for at least 2 meals.... 3-4 TIMES A DAY....
- a tablespoon of peanut butter
-AND LOTS OF VITAMINS

I have noticed that when you eat enough... especially carbs... your gym days are so much easier. I would always go in the gym and feel very faint. In other words... I wasn't eating enough.

... it seems like a lot of food and I had this misconception that I was going to get fat or my legs or body was going to get big from lifting all those weights... but in actuality... I have only gained 2 pounds and I have gotten so toned from doing this. Check out my instagram @vanillaandcocofitness where I post some workouts... my boyfriend and I just started one to post our lifting exercises, food, etc

I have found that if you live with your significant other or you are dating or even have amazing friends... do it together because it helps so much when someone else needs to eat every 2 hours too and spend 1 hour and half in the gym everyday haha. I am going to attach some of my favorite instagram accounts for workouts and some of my favorite links for weight lifting.

I have really noticed that when you lift weights vs do cardio everyday, when you eat bad for a couple days (haha yes I am human and love food) your body is not as effected. You know how you eat bad and your stomach gets super bloated after In n Out the next day and you feel like you need to run 10 miles to get it off... I don't feel this as much when you eat lifting weights.

Hopefully this helps! Cheers... I will attach some pics of my body AFTER lifting weights. I am always in pretty good shapes and like to keep my weight no more than 125lbs ever. So I usually am around 118-123 and I am roughly 5 ft 6 in. So just to give you an idea that even if I look a little more muscular in the pics I am a size 0. So nothing really has changed. Sometimes pics are a little deceiving. HAHA... ok I'm done.

I am supposed to compete later this year. I was scheduled for a show in June, but my coach wants me to continue to build more muscle and compete later this year. So I will keep you all posted. I plan to do a bikini show. The smallest frame females. Lots to look forward too :)

Cheers!

With love,
